DPA Expands Lavalier Portfolio With Introduction Of 2061 Miniature Omni Mic

DPA Microphones releases its new 2061 Miniature Omnidirectional Microphone, a solution intended for individuals who work with professional-level sound capture of the voice, in all of its nuances, at IBC 2024. From broadcast studios and ENG applications to theatres, event venues and houses of worship, the 2061 lavalier is a high-quality, easy-to-use solution that is great for any live or recording application.

Borrowing several design elements and principles from other DPA lavaliers, the 2061 features a completely new, simplified 5 mm capsule construction that targets superior performance in the

50 Hz – 16 kHz frequency range, with 128 dB peak SPL. Like its predecessors, the 2061 has best-in-class speech intelligibility via the clear, natural DPA sound, as well as a robust mechanical construction for long-lasting performance.

With an omnidirectional pickup pattern, this pre-polarized condenser microphone is designed to accurately capture the human voice with minimal coloration and a high level of fidelity and intelligibility, from any direction. The DPA 2061 has a flat frequency curve with a soft 3 dB boost at 8 kHz – 16 kHz. The mic is not pre-tailored to compensate for any specific position in which a lavalier is commonly placed, which allows a sound engineer to capture authentic sound from any arrangement.

Additionally, the 2061 features the same durability, reliability and repairability that users have come to expect of the DPA brand. This is best exemplified in the 1.5 meter-long (4.5 ft), Kevlar reinforced cable, with long and flexible strain relief for resilience against physical stress, as well as the microphone’s advanced sweat-repelling capabilities and IP57 certification for exposure to water, dust and makeup. The IP57 rating is an international standard that tests the degrees of protection provided by an enclosure, which determined that the ingress of dust does not interfere with the microphone functionality, while temporary immersion in water produces no permanent, negative effects to the device. These features offer ease of cleaning and a prolonged life.

In contrast to some of DPA’s higher-end solutions, the 2061 has a fixed cap and includes permanent connector options that are compatible with 3-pin LEMO, TA4F and Mini-Jack. These features provide an easier to use solution, especially in a chaotic work environment that requires a quick and smooth result.

The 2061 is also available in multiple colors — black, white, beige and brown, allowing it to blend in with any actor, talking head, outfit or costume. With black and white clip options, the microphone also offers quick, secure mounting, perfect for fast-moving content creation applications. Compatible with the brand’s 2061, 6060 and 6061 lavaliers, the SCM0035 Lavalier Microphone Clip offers integrated cable management, 360-degree mic rotation for the desired angle and an easy to open clamp with non-slip surface that does not slide off attire.

Additionally, the recently launched AIR1 Universal Miniature Fur Windscreen is an ideal accessory for the 2061 in windy, outdoor applications, while the SCM0030 and SCM0034 clips, and DUA056 series of foam windscreens are also compatible with the microphone.
