FAST Platform wedotv Adopts Zixi To Distribute Content To Partners

Zixi, an industry leader for enabling dependable, live broadcast-quality video over any IP network, and provider of the Software-Defined Video Platform (SDVP) has announced that wedotv, a prominent FAST service in Europe, has deployed Zixi to distribute its channels to partners across the globe.

wedotv, a global free entertainment and sports streaming network, has launched its channels through various partners across Europe. Offering its services across all devices and platforms, wedotv has established a strong presence in key markets such as the UK, Germany, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Benelux, and the Nordics. By shifting content distribution from legacy FAST service providers to Zixi, wedotv has gained greater control and streamlined its distribution process, significantly reducing time to market. This transition provides increased visibility and flexibility, eliminating the dependency on third parties to launch channels and reducing delays that could last weeks or months.

Utilizing Zixi-as-a-Service (ZaaS), wedotv has successfully moved to a cost-effective cloud infrastructure while maintaining the reliability and flexibility essential to its operations. Central to this transformation is the Zixi Broadcaster, which acts as the link between on-premises content and the cloud. Within the cloud environment, the Zixi SDVP efficiently processes and distributes content to affiliates, all managed through ZEN Master, the cloud control plane that ensures operational efficiency and end-to-end visibility.

The Zixi Enabled Network of over 1,400 media companies and more than 400 technology partners, enabling content owners like wedotv to reach wider audiences globally. The widespread adoption of Zixi by major FAST platforms allowed wedotv to transition from traditional FAST service providers to in-house IP channel distribution without requiring new development or hesitation from partners. This shift to IP distribution, facilitated by the SDVP, not only speeds up the onboarding of new partners but also enhances operational agility and reduces costs. By bringing content delivery in-house and leveraging the expansive Zixi Enabled Network, wedotv can deliver content to new markets and explore additional revenue streams without the burden of significant upfront infrastructure costs or lengthy delays typically associated with traditional service providers.

Zixi’s renowned reliability and scalability, supported by patented features like Hitless Failover and patented live streaming software ensure smooth content delivery. The Zixi-as-a-Service platform offers all the advantages of the SDVP, providing a cost-effective cloud infrastructure that minimizes the time and resources required for system setup, allowing wedotv to focus on business growth and revenue generation. Additionally, Zixi's protocol optimization dramatically lowers egress costs, and the overall computing power needed, resulting in a lower total cost of ownership. The user-friendly ZEN Master control plane equips engineers and operators with the tools necessary to manage, automate, and monitor signals across the distribution network. The advantages of the Zixi Protocol, enhanced by patented hitless failover, ensure reliable signal transmission.
