G&D Adds Type-C Variants To Its VisionXS Product Series

Guntermann & Drunck (G&D), is to introduce its latest addition to the VisionXS family: the VisionXS Type-C computer modules. These revolutionary products enable modern sources to be incorporated, such as USB-C computers, notebooks, tablets and even smartphones, following the trend towards an improved and universal USB standard.

An investment in the future: the VisionXS with Type-C connection
The new USB-C standard brings considerable improvements, and these improvements are exploited to the full by the new VisionXS and VisionXS-IP modules supporting USB-Type-C. The connection can be used to transmit video signals, keyboard and mouse signals and audio, all via a single cable. Furthermore, even the module’s power supply can be provided via the connection.

The Type-C variant transfers DisplayPort1.2 signals in Alt-Mode and enables a maximum resolution of up to 4096 x 2160 @ 60 Hz. For the VisionXS series, G&D uses its tried-and-tested, lossless compression bluedec, which enables authentic, pixel-perfect video transmission. In addition to the video signal and the keyboard and mouse signals, the computer module transmits embedded stereo audio and optionally the USB classes HID (human interface device) and mass storage device, all conveniently via one single interface. This means less cabling is needed and makes installation easier.

Clever security features minimize risks in critical control rooms
The new computer modules are compatible with other G&D components and can be used either as an extender or in a matrix installation. Either CAT cables or fiber optic cables are used, with IP-based or dedicated transmission. All KVM solutions from G&D are designed for 24/7 use and ensure that critical processes can be controlled reliably and without any disruptions. To maximize the reliability of the overall installation, additional redundancies can be developed. The implementation of a transmission redundancy solution normally calls for the use of additional hardware. Products from the VisionXS series offer integrated transmission redundancy without any additional hardware. The function is activated simply using a software feature key, either during set-up or at any later date. This innovative solution can increase the security and reliability of installations without any additional hardware costs being incurred.

With this strong addition to its portfolio, G&D is showing its innovative strength and supporting its customers and partners take one step further towards the control rooms of the future. Thanks to the versatility and compatibility of the VisionXS systems, an optimal solution can be offered that accommodates the specific application, existing IT structures and project requirements.
