NAB Preview: Brainstorm
Suite 5 comes to Vegas.
Software and virtual graphics systems developer Brainstorm Multimedia highlights how it has seen virtual technology increasingly used for any kind of content creation. It has been available for decades now but traditionally remained as a second choice after ‘real’ production, points out Miguel Churruca, Marketing and Communications Director, however it has proven its advantages for cost reduction, flexibility in production and many other.
“All this, coupled with the hyper realistic results that can be achieved due to the latest rendering technologies, makes virtual production more appealing for content creators of any kind, from broadcasters to live events companies,” he says. “Of course, the pandemic has accelerated this trend, and during the last couple of years we’ve seen a significant increase in virtual production, due to the travel restrictions or social distancing requirements. Virtual studios become more appealing because of the democratization of the virtual technology, and the availability of powerful enough hardware at a price point that not just the big broadcasters can afford.
“This has also diversified with the arrival of new display technologies like LED videowalls, which have become increasingly popular and now provide additional content creation possibilities that complement what virtual sets can do, by allowing audiences to enjoy such technology in live shows, and not only at home.”
In Las Vegas, Brainstorm will showcase Suite 5, the latest version of its flagship products InfinitySet, Aston and eStudio. Suite 5, available now for all Brainstorm users includes a plethora of new features designed to improve XR content creation and workflows, while adding an even tighter integration with Unreal Engine.
Brainstorm will demonstrate InfinitySet’s advanced XR workflows using a large LED videowall, with mixed production including chroma sets and live, in-context augmented reality. These enhancements will streamline the ability of our clients to improve their virtual content creation regardless if they are using LED videowalls or chroma sets to produce virtual content.
Aston, the motion graphics solution, now includes many user-oriented features designed to improve graphics creation and will also demonstrate the latest version of Aston Multichannel, which now allows for creating Advanced Stacked Layers. This feature allows for playing out multiple channels from a single or different workstations, and also allows for the compositing large canvas in any resolution or aspect ratio, comprising different graphics, projects or layers that can be rendered and stack in a single output with the desired aspect ratio to fill in the videowall as required.
Edison PRO, the company’s virtual studio-in-a-box product designed for live events and presentations, will also benefit from some of the above, plus its own features as a result of its upgrade to V5. With the feedback of the worldwide users and early adopters, Edison now includes a wide range of new features aimed to simplify live presentations and events, which open new possibilities for content creation. New features include workflow and IO enhancements, new virtual lights and actor improvements plus a new chroma keyer that vastly improves the integration of the actors.
