Bitcentral Acquires Powr.tv For OTT Streaming Engine

Bitcentral has acquired Powr.tv to integrate the latter’s direct-to-consumer video publishing package with its FUEL platform to provide one unified workflow to simplify video management, for delivery of live and linear VOD streaming.
The Powr.tv end-to-end platform allows media network and content owners to deploy OTT and Mobile applications as quickly as possible given current technology, broaden their reach to new audiences, and increase their revenue.
Since its inception in 2016, Powr.tv’s OTT publishing platform has amassed over 10 million cumulative installs worldwide, with more than 200 apps in its portfolio to serve Apple, Google, Roku, and Amazon customers, including BlazeTV, BroadwayOnDemand, Nosey, and Studio71.
The combined system includes turn-key premium OTT application deployment, dynamic playlisting for VOD, live and linear content, along with support for advertising (AVOD), subscription (SVOD), and transactional (TVOD) business models. Additional features include AI-based content and metadata ingestion, comprehensive distribution and syndication capabilities and dynamic rules-based automation.
“Media and Entertainment companies need a streaming platform that is flexible enough to support any business model, be easy to deploy, manage and maintain, and at the same time enable unique functionality for building and nurturing thriving content communities,” said Steve Petilli, CEO, Bitcentral.
Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
