Multichoice Deploys Network Security From Irdeto And Minim
Irdeto, the Amsterdam based content protection company, has announced that South Africa’s leading pay TV and broadband operator MultiChoice has implemented Trusted Home, its network security and WiFi management package developed jointly with Minim.
This will underpin security for MultiChoice’s DStv fixed wireless service designed to provide internet access to people lacking broadband connectivity to date. Called DStv Internet, the fixed wireless access service incorporates the Trusted Home premium software in its routers. This is designed to give DStv customers control of their home networks while providing tools to protect against online security threats and malicious attacks, along with parental controls.
Trusted Home by Irdeto and Minim is presented as an artificial intelligence (AI)-driven network security and WiFi management package for broadband or internet service providers to protect their customers’ home networks. It has a self-care app for Android and iOS for control of the home network and a service portal enabling support teams to provide assistance. The AI algorithms help detect emerging network-level threats and facilitate remote troubleshooting.
“The newly launched DStv Internet provides South Africans with connectivity for all their household internet requirements, giving them more convenience and choice,” says Nyiko Shiburi, CEO of MultiChoice South Africa. “The Trusted Home solution enables us to strengthen our superior broadband offering and we are excited to work with Irdeto. The collaboration enables MultiChoice to provide the best security features for DStv Internet.”
MultiChoice delivers DStv, GOtv and Showmax to more than 20 million households across 50 countries in Africa, offering access via satellite or streaming.
