Broadpeak Completes Cache Orchestrator Trial For Optimized Video Delivery Over 5G Networks

Broadpeak, a French provider of content delivery network (CDN) and video streaming technology, has completed the first trial of its Cache Orchestrator.

This is a CDN package for cache allocation on 5G networks, enabling CDN capacity to be made available where and when required without being permanently mobilized. This will improve Quality of Experience (QoE) and minimize content delivery costs, according to the company.

We are very excited to have accomplished the first phase of our Cache Orchestrator trial, aimed at optimizing further the quality of experience on every screen,” said Jacques Le Mancq, CEO at Broadpeak. “With the completion of this first phase, we are one step further in bringing the most exceptional video QoE to mobile devices and for fixed wireless access users.”

Automatic cache instance deployment and termination, edge cache relocation, and the first inter-cache user mobility tests were successfully achieved in the trial. The Orchestrator offers a complete orchestration framework that is video-service-aware, Kubernetes-based, 100% virtualized and configurable through a standardized API, Broadpeak added. All CDN instances are deployed as orchestrated containers, in PoPs (Points of Presence) or at the edge for better granularity and deep caching. This enables video service providers to mobilize infrastructure resources where they are most needed in the network.

Cache Orchestrator reallocates video sessions when instances shift around, and their configurations are constantly fine-tuned through a centralized process based on real-time usage analytics collected at every tier of the system.
