Evolutions Upgrades To 4K HDR With Latest Generation Monitors

Display calibration and mastering equipment supplied by Big Pic Media.

"Demand for television content is greater than it has ever been but the technology base continues to develop rapidly," comments Evolutions Operations Director Owen Tyler. "TV content producers have always mastered in the highest possible standards they can afford to ensure their creations are future proof. 4K HDR is currently optimal as it allows easy down conversion into HD-SDR or HD-HDR as well as offering stunning quality when delivered native.

“We anticipate strong growth in SVoD throughout the decade and are gearing to meet that demand by offering post-production facilities in whatever resolutions and file formats our customers request. Big Pic Media has been very supportive throughout this phase of our expansion, lending monitors and additional resources for us to test within our workflow. Adam Welsh and his colleagues have an evident strong understanding of the media business from both an operational and technical viewpoint which made the decision process faster and easier."

The project forms part of ongoing investment in new resources. It includes four Sony BVM-HX310 4K HDR master monitors, MTI Film Cortex Enterprise mastering and validation system and a Portrait Display Calman Ultimate display calibration bundle.

"The system we have supplied to Evolutions provides all the tools required for no-compromise 4K HDR reference monitoring," says Big Pic Media MD Adam Welsh. "Sony's BVM-HX310 is the de-facto standard for high-end color grading suites and all color critical monitoring. MTI Film's Cortex Enterprise Edition has also become very much an industry preferred system, in this case for content mastering and validation. It includes a wide selection of facilities including IMF packaging with Dolby Vision support, Digital Cinema Package creation tools, dead pixel detection and correction as well as video measurement tools and high quality re-scaling, all with enhanced edit capabilities."
