Claxson Chooses Primestream’s Xchange Media Cloud

Multimedia production company Claxson headquartered in Buenos Aires and Miami, has chosen Primestream’s Xchange Media Cloud to consolidate most of its MAM operations.

Claxson develops, produces, and distributes content and entertainment apps across its own pay-TV networks and digital platforms throughout Latin America, Spain, and Portugal. The company offers a full product suite for content delivery ranging from TV Everywhere, OTT, mobile apps/stores, and VOD platforms across the region. For almost a decade, Claxson has leveraged its on-premises content production workflow server from Primestream.

“Like many media and entertainment companies, we had to find a way to protect our teams while staying operational when the pandemic hit last year,” said Federico Zwiebel, chief financial officer, Claxson. “We were able to migrate to effective remote collaboration and corporate workflows in only a few days, but we have still lacked the ability to manage all the digital assets held in our on-premises broadcast systems. Now that we’re ready to take all of our MAM capabilities to the cloud, we know Xchange Media Cloud is the right choice. Not only does it have an airtight integration with our cloud platform, AWS, but its collaboration capabilities are outstanding looking into the future.”

Zwiebel continued, “Since we’re taking a big leap to consolidate all of our broadcast processes and the MAM operations in the cloud, we needed a partner that could ensure a smooth migration from our legacy infrastructure. Based on our successful long-term collaboration with Primestream, we knew they were the right partner for this important project. We know we can trust the reliability of the Primestream technology, and the continuity of working with an expert team that knows and understands our workflows is a huge benefit.”

Claxson expects to be up and running with the new Xchange Media Cloud environment by the second half of this year. The company will migrate several legacy, on-prem broadcast systems and the MAM system to Xchange Media Cloud — including the Primestream Workflow Server, which has been driving the Claxson operation for several years. Since a great deal of Claxson’s content assets are housed in the Primestream Workflow Server, migration to the new environment will be a smooth and seamless transfer of metadata.

Because Xchange Media Cloud runs natively on the AWS platform, Claxson will be able to take advantage of the complete AWS toolkit for content archiving in both deep storage and nearline storage from within the Xchange Media Cloud environment.

“Claxson’s multiscreen expertise has brought exciting content to millions of viewers in Ibero-America through its innovative and high-quality digital products. And now, Claxson will be our first customer to make such a large-scale migration to Xchange Media Cloud,” said Daniel Formica, director of professional services at Primestream.
