Haivision Introduces Hitless Failover

The new path redundancy feature within the latest releases of the Makito video encoders and Haivision SRT Gateway delivers “uninterrupted” live video streaming over multiple IP paths.

Path Redundancy is said to provide protection from extreme packet loss due to network interruptions or failure by assigning multiple routes for live video content. Path Redundancy receivers automatically select the first packet to arrive from either network ensuring uninterrupted video streaming of premium content.

The feature is now included with the latest version of the Makito X4 Video Encoder firmware enabling a single video source to be encoded and streamed over two or more IP network routes for hitless protection and failover. SRT Gateway has also been updated to include Path Redundancy for highly resilient video networking across public, private, and cloud infrastructures.

Haivision customer Live X, a full-service production company based in New York, commented on the announcement: “For those just in case moments when you never know what’s going to happen, Haivision Path Redundancy is an incredibly valuable and must-have feature for broadcasters to insure against potential failures,” said Corey Behnke, co-founder and producer.
