Specialising in cable drums, producing ranges that are used in the audio-video, broadcasting, craft and industrial markets, the company was established by engineer Otto Schill and remains in family control today.
Schill is built on Otto's design for a small portable cable drum, which led to international production and distribution of a range of models, with corporate headquarters in Fellbach near Stuttgart and a production centre at Laichingen, also in the state of Baden-Württemberg.
The company employs 70 staff and complies with the DIN EN ISO 9001:2008 quality management certification system. Over the years Schill has increased its customer base of the radio, TV and video division both in Germany and worldwide, with this sector now more important for overall business.
Three main products are aimed at broadcasting: the Practical Line, a front-reeling drum designed to be mounted in OB vehicles where space is at a premium and flexibility is needed; the Camera Line, which can be built up in four different components and are intended to store long and large cable lengths; and the Individual Line, built to match specific the requirements of cable size, the location and mounting guidelines. The audio-video sector is served by the Home Line cable boxes, the high-quality plastic cable drums of the Base Line, the special rubber cable drums in the Professional Line and the Classic Line steel plate cable drums.
