This is an industry consortium led by broadcast engineers, technologists, visionaries, vendors and business executives dedicated to an open-standards approach that moves broadcast and media companies quickly and profitably from legacy SDI systems to a virtualized, IP-based environment.
AIMS’ efforts build upon those of leading standards bodies such as the Video Services Forum (VSF), the Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers (SMPTE), the European Broadcast Union (EBU) and the Advanced Media Workflow Association (AMWA). We don’t compete with these bodies—we seek to foster the good work they have done.
AIMS’ open standards are based on the roadmap established by SMPTE 2022-6, VSF TR-03 and VSF TR-04 to solve the basic challenges inherent in using IP technology for broadcast operations. These guidelines are built upon the foundation of work done by the VSF, the AMWA, the SMPTE and the EBU. AIMS’ own membership participates in these organizations. It is precisely because our industry enjoys a robust set of standards bodies that AIMS seeks to foster the adoption of their work.
