We concentrate on real-world, cost-effective technologies that allow broadcasters to rollout value-added services that enhance viewer “stickiness” and provide a clear digital development path into the future.

S&T is involved in the deployment of digital interactive TV around the world – from the UK to New Zealand, Hong Kong to India and in the US. We also work with receiver manufacturers on a global basis licensing our RedKey MHEG-5 engine.

S&T is a market leader in products based on the ISO MHEG-5 standard, which has a rapidly growing presence worldwide. We are also active in the US market with deployments using the OpenCable OCAP standard and have developed a range of DVB-MHP playout solutions.

We also market more general-purpose products for MPEG-2 and DVB standard transmission systems.

Synapse TV is a joint venture between S&T and Simplestream to enable broadcasters and media owners to stream over-the-top (OTT) both live and on-demand content to compatible Freeview HD set-top boxes and TVs, whilst also simulcasting across other connected devices, all at a fraction of the cost of traditional over-the-air (OTA) broadcasting.

S&T was founded in 1996 and we now have more than 50 full-time staff based in London, in Boulder, Colorado and in Hong Kong SAR. S&T participates in a wide range of industry groups working to push standards forwards, including DVB, DTG and ATSC.
